It consists of compressible foam (supported by polyester) that is wrapped around the perimeter of a window prior to field installation by either the manufacturer or installer to position the window and create an energy efficient seal. It is charcoal colored, open-cell polyurethane ester foam to which a dimensionally stable reinforcing polyester tape is flame laminated to provide a permanent bond.
An emulsion acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive serves to bond the foam to a variety of substrates, to include wood, aluminum, fiberglass and vinyl. It keeps out cold, dust and wind as well as being fire retardant. It also positions window during installation.
